This was a gift to my climbing partner. He has found it interesting at how they choose their mountains, the gear they used and the story that is told.

Really enjoying the story unfold by a mountaineer that lived /5(7). THE DUKE OF ABRUZZI. Luigi Amedeo di Savoy, Duke of Abruzzi [ - ] was born in Madrid to the then king of Spain also a Savoy, who abdicated his throne only a few weeks after his son’s birth and returned to Italy.

When he was six years old, young Luigi was assigned to the Italian Navy and received his entire education in military schools. I became interested in the Duke's story as a result of my climb in the Rwenzori Mountains, also after we visited the Duke's home turf, the Val D'Aosta on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.

This book, made available in the US by Mountaineers Press is an example of the contribution that small presses make to /5. To the edges of the earth drove me to the edges of patience.
